What's up with my fingertip? Possible blood clot? With pic

Can anyone help? This is maybe the second or third time this has happened over the past year or so. The other day I had to lift up my water meter cover with a screwdriver in the side... I didn't trap or hit my finger but maybe strained it (although I really don't think I did). Anyway, I got a sudden pain in my fingertip and a blue swelling under the skin, deep inside my finger rather than a bruise. The pain lasted for a day and turned from blue into dark red as per pic. It feels as if there's pressure inside it and two days later it still feels that way. Signs of a blood clot?

I'm reluctant to bother a doctor but is this something I should worry about? I have epilepsy but no other underlying conditions, generally healthy. Can anyone help?

Sounds like something I’ve had before, think it’s a burst blood vessel. I haven’t had one for a while so can’t remember how long the pressure feeling lasted.

I've done this a couple of times, once from just turning a tap on. It was a burst blood vessel for me, the throbbing can be quite intense.
