Loss of smell & taste

I have had a complete loss of smell and taste for the last few days. I have been a lbit congested as if I have had a bit of a cold for 2/3 days as has my partner although he hasn’t lost his taste/smell, otherwise feel well. Congestion not as bad today but still can’t taste a thing. I’m worried it’s not going to come back. Anyone had similar?

It is a CV symptom, seems to affect younger people in the main. I think there was a thread on here with people sharing when they got their sense of taste/smell back...

I had heard that it could be a CV symptom but wasn’t sure as to whether I would have been snotty and congested too. Haven’t had any cough or temp, only other symptom was maybe some sinus type pain. Clear nasal discharge so didn’t think was a sinus infection.

I currently have sinus headache, aches all over, stupidity tired, no smell or taste, very slight cough and tight chest. The headache and pains started Saturday, loss of taste and smell yesterday and cough/chest this morning. We have decided to self isolate as a family.

Loss of taste & smell is a symptom, as is sinus pain. Being snotty & congested isn't though, & it could explain the other 2 symptoms. You simply have a cold. Definitely SI, & keep a diary of any other symptoms.

Hayfever has the same symptoms you describe also check the nhs website for symptoms i only knew yesterday that loss of taste is a symptom of Hayfever too

Yes, I lost my taste and smell over a week ago. I’ve had a bad head cold/virus thing for the last 2 weeks. DH caught it off me and his taste and smell disappeared 6 days ago.
We’ve both had this happen before, but never for so long.
