DD1 has just started reception and was given a letter today stating that a child in her class has been found to have headlice.

So far, I cannot see any sign of lice/eggs on her, but my question is, if I find them what is the protocol regarding school - should one keep a child off 'sick' with nits for fear spreading them? Or do you just treat before school and send child in with a note for teacher?

Just want to do the right thing, thanks in advance,

I am not sure too be honest you need to ask the headmistress/master. I personally wouldn't send my child to school until I at least treated the problem once - then comb every single day with conditioner for 2-3 weeks after to make sure the eggs are all out.

I kept my DD home from school on 2 occasions because she had head lice but there are others that would send them with lice.
