Very sore eye after a torn contact lens

Last wore contact lenses on Friday. One was a bit sore and when I took it out, I noticed it had torn and a tiny piece was missing. I have never managed to retrieve it but it was so tiny I assumed it would work it's way out like dust and grit does.

Anyway, next morning the eye was sore and gunky, which I hoped was because it was scratched and healing rather than because the piece of lens was still there. Since then it feels maybe a bit better and is less gunky but still very sore.

My opticians is closed. Anywhere else on my body I wouldn't be worried, but eyes? What should I do?

Ring any opticians and get an appointment. I had to have antibiotics when my baby scratched my cornea, and I also had to have a follow up appointment 24 hours later so they could check the medicine was working.
Get an appointment asap! Hope you're ok x

This warrants A&E.

Could be a scratch which is very painful. I went to an urgent care clinic and they gave me antibiotic gel which cleared it up and stopped the pain. If you're not sure or don't want to turn up at A&E do nhs 111 online and see where they advise you to go.

If you are near hospital go to one of the eye hospitals. Western Eye Hospital by Marylebone Station or Moorfields. I had Keratitis from contacts. Incredibly painful.

Sorry that was supposed to say if you are near London!
