Is it normal to be sore from a swollen gland under the jaw?

I thought I had slept funny and strained a muscle in my neck/jaw, but realised last night that it’s a swollen gland. I’ve woken up feeling a bit like I’m coming down with a cold (slightly runny nose and a bit of phlegm in throat) but I can feel the soreness of the gland all the time and the area is painful to touch.

Is that normal? I usually only get swollen glands in the side of my neck if I am ill.

I get that sometimes, usually when I’ve got a sore throat or blocked sinuses, also had it once for an infected tooth. It aches constantly when the gland is swollen and hurts when it’s touched. It usually means your body is fighting off an infection on that area
