For anyone who wants a boost to their general health. The suggested goals are:

EAT 10 PORTIONS OF FRUIT AND VEGETABLES EVERY DAY - if you don't usually eat much fruit and veg I would build up gradually or you could upset your digestion.

DO (AT LEAST) 10 MINUTES OF EXERCISE EVERY DAY - can be yoga, stretching or something more energetic. The plan is that the idea of doing 10 minutes is not too daunting, and having started you may well find you want to do more.

There are no restrictions on what you eat so long as you get your 10 fruit and veg as well. The focus is not on weight loss but on improving our energy levels and hopefully our general mood and well-being. Sign up below and post here to tell us how you're getting on and how you are feeling.

Basic guidance on what constitutes a portion of fruit and veg here and you can download more detailed information by following the link at the very bottom of the page

Franny don't worry about email. Mine was more an update sort of email and an I am Getting Better sort, rather than a Desparately Needing a Reply sort.

I am a little of you going away. But we are going to have a fun weekend, so it is not too bad.

Museli. Currently being eaten.

filthymindedbolshevixen · 14/09/2007 09:06

I am devastated that i missed last night's poetry fest. I was born to write crap poetry...
My dream job is writing tripe for greetings cards!
I was watching Saxondale and sniggering becuase it reminds me so much of Dh..

Don't worry Franny, everything is in safe hands. Have a festival-tastic time.

100 100 100!
I know not what causes you grief.
But please rest assured,
That this vegetably horde
Will persist in offering relief

We hope that you're soon feeling happy
We yearn for your wisdom and wit
So please don't be lurking
Or (god forbid!) working
Come back to the fold, you daft git!

This website is chock full of nutters
(And angels, and comics and geeks.)
But on no other thread
Can you snuggle in bed
With greengages, mangos and leeks.

hi, really sorry not been able to read the messages yet...but please could someone help me wiht this part of the applicationform (I think I am finally getting somewhere all in all, lol)

Question:
How do you think people with disabilities in the community and workplace should be viewed?

Now I know what I want to say, i.e. that they are equal

but I suppose that would be to easy...I really don't know how to put this for the best...anyone got any inspirations?

filthymindedbolshevixen · 14/09/2007 11:19

You need to talk about the need for organisations and employers to be inclusive. (that's a buzzword)
And people should be judged on their merits and not excluded on any grounds of physical/mental impairment, so long as they can do the job.
And perhaps you could think of relatively simple ways employers could make it easier for employers who are no able bodies, ie signs in braille, ramps for access, thoughtful positioning of furniture etc. Equal opportunities s is the key!

filthymindedbolshevixen · 14/09/2007 11:21

And point out that you have some empathy s with a pushchair, one faces many similar obstacles in the community - ie lack of dropped kerbside crossings, A-boards blocking pavements, rubbish layouts in shops, hard to open doors etc.

TooTicky · 14/09/2007 11:29

Can you say that you think they should be viewed no differently from anybody else? Or is that not quite what they are looking for? Or that they have lots to offer? I dunno.

Hello everybody.

(BBB, you would not believe the chaos. Knee deep is optimistic really.)

I have been sorting wool. I really want some skin colour but I want it NOW.

3andnomore · 14/09/2007 12:11

How about.
I believe that Employers and Organisations need to be inclusive. (thanks FMV)
Disabled People should be accepted as Individuals and integrated in their environment and treated as equals, at the same time appropriate support should be given to enable them to reach their full potential.

Would that be o.k.?

3andnomore · 14/09/2007 12:14

slightly better maybe as the and...and looked a bit odd

I believe that Employers and Organizations need to be inclusive.

BBBee · 14/09/2007 12:23

you need to also address the community part of the question - otherwise spot on.

BBBee · 14/09/2007 12:26

In order for disabled people to fulfill their right to equal access within workplaces, oraganizations and the community at large....

kind of thing - oh god ignore me have made it worse

3andnomore · 14/09/2007 12:29

How about:

Within the community and their working place disabled People should be accepted as Individuals, integrated in their environment and treated as equals, at the same time appropriate support should be given to enable them to reach their full potential.
Employers and Organizations need to be inclusive.

Is that any better?

BBBee · 14/09/2007 12:32

yes - that is good - very good.

Would either capitalize "Disabled" and "People" or niether "disabled" "people"

is very good actually.

3andnomore · 14/09/2007 12:58

thank you

3andnomore · 14/09/2007 13:00

whilest we are with this, lol:
what about this?

REACTION
Tell us a difficult situation that arose and how you handled it in your previous role:

When I was working in the field of oncology, I was caring for a Homeless Person, who had terminal cancer. Upon starting my night shift, I was told that he had asked for me to help him with his personal care, rather then the staff from the late shift. When I went into his room, he explained that the reason he wanted me to do this, was, because he felt I treated him like a human being without judging him and he felt that I was genuinely interested in his welfare. He revealed to me, that he felt that he was close to the end of his life and he wanted me to be with him as I made him feel cared for and at ease.
During this night I spend as much time with him, as I could. Reassuring him, making him as comfortable as possible, and holding him. His condition deteriorated throughout the night and in the morning he died peacefully.

How would you describe your ideal working environment?

The ideal working environment would be respectful of the Individual, diverse and supportive.

3andnomore · 14/09/2007 13:06

This might be better:

How would you describe your ideal working environment?

Good teamwork, client orientated, in a diverse environment which benefits both clients and team.

Boco · 14/09/2007 13:55

Hello. I've spent the morning felting. MrsC wasn't it you who did felting? It was good - we made lots of felt beads and a big underwater scene piece of felt - and then i learnt beading on a loom and made a bracelet. Now my eyes are all funny from squinting.

I had a sausage roll for lunch, but the 3 hour felting workshop cancels that out so it's fine and we don't need to mention it.

Hope Franny has fun.

FMV you're a natural hallmark talent - you need to write for greetings cards. I hope 100 lurks enough to read all her poetry.

Carotte · 14/09/2007 13:59

It was me. I've never felted anything other than balls but some friends of mine make dolls/bags etc. It's quite good fun isn't it?

TooTicky · 14/09/2007 14:00

FMV, card companies are always on the lookout for new talent. I've read a couple of articles about it. Could look and see if I still have them? (Along with the blasted ecologists I never sent you )

BBBee · 14/09/2007 14:34

3andnomore - I liked your first one about hte work place, seemed more 'you' and less what you might be supposed to put.

The story about he man is lovley - shows you responded to his needs, you might want to put in 'whilst ensuring al my other duties were met to the highest standard' so it doesn;t look like you buggered off and didn;t do anything else.

boco - felting - um cool in a hippish way, oh but MrsCaroota is cool so that is alright (she has those boots)

BBBee · 14/09/2007 14:35

oh FMV -am glad you weren;t around last night - you outshine me by miles.

Do one about franny going to a hippy camp in a hippy tent and being a hippy and have a shiny green apple in it.

BBBee · 14/09/2007 14:36

(TT now envision you wadig through piles of crap to get to your computer)

BBBee · 14/09/2007 14:36

don;t you have to wee on it to do felting?

yes you do I remember.

Bloody hippies.

Boco · 14/09/2007 14:51

What? There was no weeing involved. Are you thinking of felching?
