Can someone talk me through asthma and degrees of importance?

I was only diagnosed with it a year ago, although I'd been getting unwell for years. It's triggered by viruses and aerosols, and 2 weeks ago I had the slightest of sore throats.

Cut to this week and the GP ends up getting me 5 days of prednisone tablets, and s says to up the symbicort from 2x a dat , to 2 puffs x 4 a day.

Usually within a day or so my lungs feel so much better and back to normal, but here I am day 5, still slightly short of breath and ribs still painful.

Obviously I'm keen to get back to full capacity soon as, given current situation, but not sure what to do now? She gave me nsaids for the ribs, but then I got a terrible tummy ache, as I've done before with nurofen.

Any thoughts? If I now stop the pred, wil it continue to get better or are you supposed to be completely clear first?

Hope that all makes sense. I'm trying really hard not to fuss, but I've got others relying on me and am suddenly feeling a bit spooked.

Contact your GP practice and ask to speak to your asthma nurse or have a GP telephone appointment. Alternatively ring Asthma Uk helpline - it’s staffed by dedicated asthma nurses. You can also message them. They are good and quick to respond. You need qualified medical advice. Never a good idea to stop meds without medical advice first.
Hope you feel better soon.

Thank you so much - gp said the maids were for comfort, rather then to do with the pain, and I know it's bad for you to take them if they give your really bad gut ache.

I'll try and find a local equivalent of the asthma UK.

Sorry - I didn’t realise you were in the UK. They may still help via email/Facebook or messaging if there isn’t an equivalent where you are.
Hope you feel better and get some answers soon.
