Anyone here taken/taken HRT or oestrogen tablets? Side effects question.

Hi

As some of you will have read here I have recently had a hysteroscopy and partial treatment for Asherman's Syndrome (adhesions on the uterus).

Followin mthe surgery I have to take, for one month only, some hormone replacement tablets to encourage growth of the cervical lining.

I have been given HRT tablets (oestrogen) for 28 days, and for the last 10 days another hormone.

I have now been taking the HRT - 6mg a day - for the past 8 days. But I feel lousy. I feel very emotional - everything is a strain, anything has me close to tears. I am tired and lethargic the whole time. I have abdominal cramps and back aches still and have had bleeding one and off for the past 7 days (it was my period last week but this has been very very light and very very short for past 5 years deue to Ashermans, and after the surgery they said there was little lining left this month anyway). The bleeding is red - so not old blood - and there is more of it than normal.

I just feel rubbish really.

My sick note runs out tomorrow, following my surgery and I have no idea how I will cope back at work - I work in a male prison on a one to one basis with the men - on Tuesday. I'll be asleep or ranting by 9am!

Are these noraml side affects of HRT? Is there anything I can do? I know I only have this for a month but I feel really low and debilitated by it.

I need to make an appointment to see the GP tomorrow to get more HRT (hospital only had half the quantity available), so will ask about it there. But wondered if any MNetters have used HRT and can advise.

Thanks.

Yes, I work in a prison as an advice and guidance worker to the prisoners. I did hear the sad news about the teacher down south, very sad.

Started on second lot of hormone tablets now - 20mg progesteron a day.

I am an emotional wreck. 9 days to go before normality (I hope) kicks back in.

Signed off for a further two weeks. This will take me to end of tabvlets (this Friday) plus the end of the bleeding which the second progesteron hormones will enforce, which is tyically accompanied by a lot of pain - especially if the last time I had the progesteron is anything to go by,

Gp was wondeful and really understanding. She does say that she isn't suprised I am feeling so bad emotionally considering the dose of oestrogen.

I just have to tell work now.

if your bored on thursday drkgpink and i aare going to meadowhall

Hulababy · 24/09/2007 14:35

That sounds quite a nice change for me, and I have some shopping to think about (DD needs something suitable to wear for trampolining) - your DD's present for one. Anything in particular she really would like? If I leave it to DD to chose it could be anything so long as pink and sparkly, lol!

i think drkgpink is picking me and dd2 up at about 10.30am so i could text you then and we could meet at meadowhall at say 11am. i need to buy a bra for wearing at the gym! i have crazily booked an individual induction at the gym for 7.30am on wednesday, so i may not be able to get out of bed on thursday morning!

Hulababy · 11/10/2007 14:47

Bleeding completely stopped - so had less than 48 hours of bleeding, and about 24 hours max of anything vaguely normal. Still have uncomfortable bloating type feeling - like you get with a period, and loads of nausia each day. Been sick this afternoon too. Oh, I hate hormones!!! Would say first op hasn't done any help so far!
