Good luck with it. I had mine out in my early 20's and it was one of the best things I did healthwise.

Ditto badkitten. I wish I had done it earlier.

YG it took me about 2 weeks to completely get over the op, but I did have an infection. The first few days are a bit sore, but it gets better very soon after that.

I agree - had mine out in November 2005. Felt great just a few days later. Make sure you eat and drink plenty, helps to keep your throat 'clean' and prevent infection.

I found the long term benefits are(obviously)no more tonsilitis/ear throat problems but also only one minor cold since despite dd's constantly having them.

Good luck!

Unfortunatly I got a infection after which delayed healing. Shockingly I was sent home despite being in increasing pain and a raised temperature. Ended up on mega antibiotics and was nearly readmitted. But overall, even with that it took about two weeks. My main tip is to make sure that you take regular painkillers even if you don't think you need them, that way you don't let the discomfort build up iyswim.

It did make such a difference to my health. My psoriasis got much better (mine can be triggered by infections) and I wasn't constantly run down fighting of tonsilitis all the time. I don't have to dread sore throats and colds anymore.
