Can you get a smear test done if you are spotting?

I thought my period would have finished by now, but I've still got a tiny bit of spotting and my smear test is booked for this afternoon, so I'm hoping it will have stopped but then, but does anyone know if you can have a smear test when you have a little bit of spotting?

You can now. They used to have quite strict rules (not helpful for those with irregular periods) but it should be ok. I suspect there's a small risk they might have to redo it but hopefully you still went today.
