Should I still go to my Cancer Smear appointment this afternoon? Bleeding again after my period finished

Hi,
Monday last week I started bleeding 4 days before my period which was really unusual, that has never happened to me since then I've started feeling sore down below at the opening and a bit inside. My period started on the Friday and the bleeding lasted for 3 days. But the browny blood/cm (which normally starts going on the 4th day) doesn't seeming to be going away and I have just been to toilet and there is red blood again. My vaginal walls feel different (hard/maybe swollen). I think I might need to make an appointment with the doctor because I've never had this before.
Should I still go to my smear test or will the bleeding affect the results?

I don't think they will take the smear sample while you're bleeding, I've had a time in the past where I've unexpectedly came on period and had a smear booked, rang up to ask if they'd still see me and was told no and to reschedule. This is going back 8 years ago or so though.

Call them and ask, but also mention your concerns
