Me that is, not one of the dcs
Basically the thread title says it all. It's just one minor ailment after another. Currently I have an agonising throat and chest infection, before that it was an injured back, before that it was conjunctivitis and before that it was defmatitis that got infected. No-one else in the family seems to get them and when I do, I'm totally floored.
It's been like this since my youngest dc was born (3.5 years ago) amd I'm assuming that my immune system must be very low. Can anyone give me any advice on how to stregnthen it or become generally more healthy.
I currently eat a (reasonably) healthy diet and get plenty of sleep.
Any advice would be very gratefully received. Thanks

I went through similar (and still am to some extent). GP ran a battery of tests to check out things like thyroid/diabetes etc., but they all came back negative. In the end I was sent away and advised to get more excercise/fresh air and eat healthier. I think it's working. I'm still tired most of the time but seem to be coming down with less things.

Was thinking of eccinachea or multi vits as well. Has anyone got any views on whether they might help?

Don't bother with multivits - not enough of anything in them really.

Do you have a good healthfood shop near you? I would go and talk to them, and ask their advice.

Have you also considered that you might be allergic to something, or have a food intolerance? It could be worth keeping a food/drink diary for a while, and see if there is any correlation between how you feel and what you have been eating.

Drink lots of water, as this really does help keep your energy levels up.

There is a good health shop near(ish) to work - could try to get in and see them.
Have thought about food allergy / intolerance. In fact, the chiropractor who is treating my bad back suggested trying to give up cows milk / cheese etc as she thought it might be aggravating my ecxema. I am trying that at the moment with a bit of success.
Will also try to increase the amount of water I drink - one problem is that I am out a lot for work, driving and quite often I 'forget' to drink for hours.

Sounds like you may have a lot of stress, if you work full time, and have kids we all do.

And stress really does lower your ability to fight off infections and stuff.

Any chance you can look at ways of reducing your stress, a bit more 'me time', build up a little 'inner strength'?

clumsymum, again I think you could be right. I don't work full-time, only nearly (4 full days a week) plus an hours commute each way into the office, which I hate.
Although I don't always feel 'stressed', I do find it very, very difficult to relax. I just cannot sit still and always have to be doing something. I don't suppose that helps.
I also tend, like lots of us, to put my childrens needs before mine, so will spend hours preparing something lovely for the kids tea (which they often as not turn their noses up at) and then just having a couple of crackers on cheese for mine
Maybe I should go to yoga or something - only problem is, I wouldn't have time for it.
