TheOriginalXENA · 06/09/2007 10:57

The mini pill I was on gave me constant bleeding. I am due to have a mirena fitted next week (I have to have it done under GA) and i'm wondering if anyone who has used both could give me their experinces? Thanks

I have had the mirena for 4 years now.
prior i had really heavy bleeding and hated taking pills.
It did take about a year for the spotting to clear so dont expect miracles in first few months, but now its fab.No perios and best of all i have sufferred a lifetime of pmt which is now absolutely gone

I had the mirena fitted and within 6 months I was the psycho from hell talk about pmt, I had it pre and post and my periods were heavier and more frequent.

I think that you are going to get the 'really great's and the 'don't touch it with a bargepole's. I am the latter

Have gone for the easy option now, dh has had the snip

my DH is having the snip in October. I was hoping that the mirena would make my awful periods better, but given what the mini pill did....

I don't have experience of the mini pill but had a mirena coil fitted about a year and a half ago. I had really heavy periods before and after a few months of spotting that disappeared although I do now bleed a little each month.

The main thing for me though is that it has almost got rid of the terrible migraines and sickness I got with my period.

Actually, would like to know why I have started having bleeding again

However, its nothing compared to how I was before.

TheOriginalXENA · 06/09/2007 21:32

I think I've decided to cancel it. I'm scared of the general A anyway!

Why are you having a general for a coil fitting?!?!.

Just thinking about coil and migraine, I suffered more migraines when I had the coil in than the previous 5 years - is there a connection?

TheOriginalXENA · 10/09/2007 14:30

because I have to much scarring (treatment for cell changes) for them to fit it normally
