Can I start by saying I have health anxiety so I never know whether I am overreacting and don’t need to see a doctor or if I should.

I noticed a couple of days ago I have a very mild case of Petechiae on my abdomen. It’s very diffuse and tiny, but it’s there. I have also investigated and it’s also on my upper thighs and my lower arms in smaller quantities. It doesn’t look like a rash until you put a torch on it then you can see it much clearer.

There is no trauma to these areas although my abdomen has been itchy for the last 5 days or so. I have been ignoring it for the last 2 days / moisturising but it still persists. I should add the Petechiae are also inside my belly button and the itching has been on the sides, i definitely haven’t scratched the inside of my belly button! I have had a Petechiae rash from chronic scratching before and it does not look like this.

I have a very light cold (snot only), no fever, sore throat, cough etc.

The only medication I’m on is Omeprazole.

I had a full blood count blood test on Wednesday (for an enlarged gland which has been there 12 months which in finally getting around to getting checked) but obviously results aren’t back yet. I assume that would pick up anything worrying so I don’t need to see my doctor again?

I had a FBC in November 2019 and everything was within the normal range if that helps.

I really don’t want to bother my GP unless I have to.

Thanks to everyone ❤️

Hi, I have it too and noticed it on my abdomen. I hurried to the doctor and they did an on the spot blood test but they found nothing. I still have it now on my arm aswell but there doesn’t seem to be any reason for it as it’s been five years now!
If you’ve had the gland enlarged for 12 months and you haven’t been declining in health I can’t imagine it would be anything to worry about.

Other things that can cause petechiae are ssri’s and at Johns wort.

Are you very fair skinned?

Same as me! I expect it’s nothing to worry about Flowers

Thanks lovely. I hope you’re right! I’m sure I’d get over my health anxiety much more easily if I stopped having constant blooming symptoms of things!! X

I was getting these a lot when my ferritin was low x

You can get them just from getting to hot or a temperature. My youngest used to get them after fevers.
