They told us 10.00.

He went in for treatment at 14.50, near,y a 5 hour wait.

The reason, they told us 10.00, but booked him in for 14.30!

I can't blame the girls, they are kind and sweet and overworked and underappreciated.

But the systems they run suck!

In the end he felt so sick that he walked out before he had his treatment.....he has had alomst 30 rounds of treatment now and pavlovian coditioning means that even being in the hospital makes him feel sick. And waiting for 5 hours was just more than he could cope with. And he is so brave....remember he is a fighter pilot by training and has seen active service 3 times.

This was just more than he could stand, poor love.

Bastard fucking disease

What an absolute sodding mess. As if you don't have enough to deal with.

NadineBaggott · 04/09/2007 19:05

That's bloody awful!

All those managers are well worth the money eh?

Elibean · 04/09/2007 20:48

Five hours, MB, Especially after 27 infusions. You're right, its the disease thats a bastard, not the over worked receptionists, but still - they could have told him when he booked in

Kathyis6incheshigh · 04/09/2007 20:52

That's so crap . Don't care whose fault it is, it's crap. Imagine five hours waiting for that. So sorry.

onlyjoking9329 · 05/09/2007 20:22

i have been looking for you i need some hottub advice

gess · 05/09/2007 20:44

Oh that's dreadful MB. If they'd told him the cock up he could have gone home .

Blandmum · 05/09/2007 20:45

Quite, I'd have taken him home and taken him back!

TBH I think that he is getting to the end of the infusion, I don't think he can cope with it any more. I don't think that I can either for that matter

OP posts:
gess · 05/09/2007 20:51

oh MB Will he still get the tablets?

Blandmum · 05/09/2007 20:56

possibly. His doctor has been testing the water with us for a few visits, I think. She may offer him 2 weeks on 2 weeks off, or just the tablets.

The chemo is stopping working though, because the symprtomes are back. He is in pain, and feels a 'mass' in his abdomen. Don't have to be G and T to work that one out

We'll wait on the results of the last scan and have a talk with the consultant. In the end it is dh's call, and I'll support him either way.

MB, so sorry about the Hospital cocking up....chemotherapy is so hard to bear as it is, and getting through so many infusions and month of it....!
I have just finished a very inspiring book "The choice" by Bernadette Bohan, who is a 2x cancer survivor and the 2. time she decided to get a bit more pro active.
She does describe her emotions going through chemo and radio therapy very well, and gave me a lot of food for thought!

I am so so sorry to hear this MB
