I've been started on microgynon for 1mth prior to IVF. I haven't used contraception for 10yrs (been TTC) but never had ongoing periods previously. Normally 5days, but its been 13days and still light and enough for a mini tampon. Anyone else have this? Likely hormonal, but not sure if I should ring the clinic?

My old uni roommate used to have 2 week periods when on the pill. But it would be pretty heavy for one week and then enough for a tampon/pad/whatever she decided to use that day.

Sounds like breakthrough bleeding. It’s really common for irregular bleeding to occur in the first few months of taking a new pill.

In your situation I would ring the clinic NOT because I think there’s anything wrong but just to check it won’t cause issues with your treatment.

Good luck!

Thanks for the replies. I feel fine otherwise, no cramps, and the initial bleeding did seem to be normal for me (heavier 2 days, lighter 2 days, spotting a day) its just the ongoing brown spotting that I'm concerned about.
