ear ache. And it's the weekend!

Hi all

I saw my GP last monday as I had bad earache - have infection. Prescribed antibiotics. Have taken 16 out of the 21 tablet course. Seemed to be getting better, but yesterday pain back with a vengeance, worse than before, last night very disturbed and this morning agony. Can't move my jaw i.e. chew. Headache too. Surgery closed on Sat and Sunday. What should I do -

1. Keep taking antibiotics and see GP on MOnday
2. ?

Hi pooka. Poor you. Earache is agony isn't it? Is there not an out of hours doctor on call during the weekend? Would be good if you could even just talk to him.

Keep taking the antibiotics for the infection and take nurofen or similar ibufrofen (anti-inflammatory) this will help with the swelling and act as a pain reliever too. You can also use a hot water bottle - if you have one - for the pain. If it's still not right by Monday/Tuesday, make another appointment with the doc.

Thanks littlemissbossy. Ended up going to the emdoc, and have been given more antibiotics to take with the existing ones. And have bought lots of probiotics too. Feel rough rough rough
