Lump in palm of hand anyone?

Noticed a small hard lump in the palm of my hand about two months ago and I thought it would go away but it's still there.
Think it might be because I'm often trying to open them damn hard caps on the water bottles and recall a few months back when a cap wouldn't open my palm was red and felt sore after.
Will it go away eventually or do I need check with the doctor? Seems a bit minor to bother her with though?

It sounds like a ganglion. They can be harmless, but can get quite sore and inflamed. Mine have a tendency to burst and give me flu-like symptoms for 24 hours, but I think that is the exception.

It's actually under the skin and not visible if you are looking at my palm. Could that still be a ganglion?

I have exactly the same. Mine is on my Palm about 2cm from the bottom of my ring finger. It's like a tiny hard nodule. Where is yours exactly?

They can feel really hard - almost like a piece of bone. Mine were never visible, only if you felt around the skin.

It could be very early Dupuytren's contracture.

@chester18 hi, mine is basically same place as yours! How long have you had it? Have you showed it to a doctor?

@kissmelittleass I’ve had mine for about 6 months I think. Meant to show it to the GP last time I was there then forgot but I’m pretty sure it’s a ganglion.

I had a little nodule about 5 yrs ago. I showed it to my GP. She said that sometimes it causes problems by pulling the fingers down to the palm - the Dupuytren contraction pp referred to. Hand surgery apparently v tricky and they wouldn't do anything until it was really causing me problems.

It's now about a centimetre in diameter and hurts if I press on it but no sign of fingers contracting. I have other, more serious medical issues to preoccupy me at the moment so have decided to live with it for the time being.

I was actually with the doctor for a different matter today and so I asked her to check my palm. She said it was a nodule and is usually hereditary and will need steroids injections if it causes me problems as the fingers pull in towards the palm?
Previous poster on here shared a link and that's apparently what mine is. A ganglion would be very rare there and wouldn't be under the skin I'm told so anyone else that has this should check it out.
I have to read up on it I don't know much about it but my dad has what he calls trigger finger and terrible pains in his hand fingers and wrist joints so this is the hereditary bit for me I think?

I had this. Dupuytrens syndrome. I had a lump around the size of a 2p in the bottom of my hand/near my wrist. I had it surgically removed years ago, it's never come back (I'm mid thirties, had it removed ten years or so ago).

Sorry to revive the thread but I've just noticed a painful nodule in exactly the same place. Googled it and up popped Dupuytren's which I'd never heard of before.

I guess I'll just wait and see for a bit - this isn't a good time to be bothering the NHS with early symptoms of anything!

I’ve had one in the same place for ages, it’s like a tiny pea. I’ve read about dupuytrens but also seen that you can get ganglions in that part of the hand.

Do ganglions hurt? This is really tender. I think I've felt it before. It seems odd I don't remember clearly ! I certainly didn't google it before.
