TMI- itching bum..

I hate that I'm asking about this but here goes... Ever since giving birth more than 2 years ago I've had an itching bum (nice!) my gp says its not piles but could be what is quite a common problem (really?) where the anus is itchy for no apparent reason- its called a special name but cant remember what it is. She gave me a cream on prescription which has done bugger all. nothing. Have tried various other potions including witch hazel and pile creams, they dont do any good. Its always worse after a bowel movement though I've learnt to use toilet roll to wipe myself in small amounts (the wiping irritates the area...) and just now have ordered a special anus itching spray from the internet which promises to cure the problem for ever (if only). My point is this though, I NEVER EVER had this problem until I gave birth so surely it must be related to childbirth? I had a third degree tear which has healed and I dont have any incontinence issues but it seems to much of a coincidence to me- have a baby, hundreds of stitches and then a sore arse. Sometimes I wonder if theres still stitches in my back passage which is causing the irritation..

Anyway to cut a long story short, just wondering if anyone else has suffered with this or has any advice.... Anything would be gratefully received. Thanks!
