After effects of scald

About 3 weeks ago I stupidly spilt a whole mug of boiling hot soup over the back of my hand round under the thumb to my wrist. It was painful beyond belief and after sitting with my hand in a bucket of water for 4 hours afterwards, it came up in a huge blister that needed dressing twice a day (luckily my friend is a nurse so was able to do this for me)

Anyway, the blister has now gone although the site of the burn is still red and sore looking. I’m no longer dressing it at all. My thumb joint is now really painful inside rather than on the surface and I think it’s been affected by the burn. Is there any point in seeing a doctor or should it clear up on its own? It feels like a nerve pain and is constant.
I really don’t want to bother a doctor if there’s nothing to be done but wait it out - just wondering if anyone else has experienced anything like this before.

Yes see doctor or practice nurse. That’s what they are there for.
