Hi all. I am having a major operation soon and I am facing the post op period as a single mum. It was indicated that I would need a responsible adult around for the first 2-3 weeks and am looking at a 3-4 month period off work. I am wondering how other people managed the period immediately after surgery when I will need someone around 24-7, and also how you coped with not earning for that period? I can figure out the rest of the recovery period (cleaners, food deliveries, mates helping - although the first two have a cost implication of course), but I cannot work the rest out. Be glad of any advice. Thank you.
