problems after moms menopause

My mom fininshed her menopause about5 years ago. She hasnt had a period since except for some spot bleeding about six months ago. I am very worried because she told me she had some more spotting a couple days ago. Only one incident. She has not had her yearly exam in 3 years since we moved. Shes usually good about these. Does anyone know why she might have had these couple of spottings years later after menopause? I have this big fear of her getting cancer. Shes planning to see the doctor next week. Thanks everyone

threeangels, I have no experience of this personally but I looked it up in my book on women's health and although it says that your mum must see her doctor it also says that other causes of spotting could be fibroids, endometriosis or vaginitis (dryness of the vagina). Also if your mum has been taking anything with oestrogen in it and has stopped or changed it that could be the cause. I hope that your mum is okay

Thanks so much ionesmum. I'll have to ask her about the estrogen thing. She does take certain medicines but I'm not exactly sure what it is or what it contains.
