Thrush question!

Hi, I'm pretty sure my dd (18 months) has thrush on her bottom. It's self-diagnosed, but I've put Canesten cream on it and seen an almost immediate reaction, so I'm fairly sure I'm right.

The thing is I'm still breastfeeding her. Does it mean she's probably got oral thrush too, or that I've got it in my boobs? I haven't got any symptoms whatsoever, either in my boobs or down below.

Will my husband and myself both need to be treated? If so, can I buy the stuff from the chemist? Or must I make an appointment with the dreaded GP?

Its not likely that she will also have it in her mouth - but check her tongue for white plaques( furry bits) if so she would need some anti fungal liquid from the doc/minor illness nurse.
Thrush on the boobs - very uncomfortable - red/ swollen?? If so use Canesten cream.
Do you or your husband have symtpoms?

Thanks fruitymum. Neither hubby or I have symptoms, but I read somewhere ages ago, that you can still have it without symptoms (?). My boobs are ok, not red or painful, or anything. DD has got a mild rash round her mouth, which is why I was panicking about oral thrush. It doesn't look nasty, like her bum though and she's got the normal 'I b/f a lot' white tongue, but it doesn't look unusual.

I'd just treat her bum then - sounds like all else is fine , keep going with the canestan for 7 days after rash has cleared.
