DS has to have a 24 hour Mobile Heart ECG monitor thingy on Friday till Saturday. Anyone else's child had to have it? Anything I should know?

DS is having strange doings and pumpings in his chest. Has had it for over a month and he is getting rather distressed by it, hence a visit to the doctor followed by blood tests and an ECG and now a 24 hour ECG mobile thing stuck to his chest as he goes about his normal day and night ... I am a bit worried but am trying not to think about it too much as I don't want to panic or anything ...
Does anyone know what it entails? The monitor that is, Is it bulky and uncomfortable at all? Will he be able to sleep etc?
TIA

I've had one myself on a number of occasions (I have a heart arrhythmia).

It is fine - a bit of a nuisance but it certainly has never stopped me sleeping. The worst bit is that it is itchy where the sticking plasters are!

It all went pretty uneventfully ... he did his normal thing after school (played on his bike and kicked a football around, bugged his little sister, that sort of thing) ... we had to adjust it before he went to bed though as the nurse had put the belt over his shoulder (like a sash type thing) as she said it was too big for his waist. When he went to bed I had visions of him strangling himself in his sleep so I discovered the belt could go round his waist if I put it twice around ... LOL ...
So he didn't sleep to badly thank goodness.
This morning however, he was very very itchy ... poor thing. Luckily he had it taken off at 10am ... he was highly amused when I pointed out that the marks left by the round stickers looked like he had been suckered by a giant octopus ...
We will find out next week sometime if anything showed up ...
Thanks for listening
