Hi - I am 36 weeks pregnant and although this sounds really yuk have got to ask someone as its really bothering me...I have got a pain similar to a knife, sort of stabbing, scraping pain in my vagina/lower abdomen. Its not all the time but just wanted to know if anyone else has had similar at this stage in pregnancy. Have been tested for urine infection last week and nothing came up from this...Sometimes occurs when going to the loo but have had it when just standing up at other times too. Never when I am just sat down?? Maybe the baby on a nerve? Has anyone any idea of what it might be and what I can do about it.

could be the baby pressing on a nerve - can be very painful!

It really takes my breath away when it happens...bothers me a bit about giving birth if this is the sort of pain you have - its first baby and have not got a clue what to expect!!

I don't know what you can do about it - sorry!

I used to get a stabbing pain high up in my vagina when pregnant, not all the time just sometimes. No idea what it was but caused no problems.

Could be a little hand rubbing against a nerve?

yes i think tis the baby hitting a nerve, or he/she could be knocking your bladder, if your at all concerned please dont hesitate to see your midwife.

Thanks everyone. Really appreciate the answers - feel much better knowing others have had a similar experience but will definitely mention it on visit to midwife this week. Thanks again.
