Very silly question to anyone whose DD/DS has broken a leg.............

My 2-year-old DD broke her femur very (very) badly earlier in the year. She's now luckily out of plaster but her leg is covered in thick black hair, all over, from her thigh to her ankle. It's extremely noticeable and I have seen a lot of people doing a double-take when they see her (rude...).

Is that normal, to be all hairy (sorry, but I've never broken anything, nor has DH and nor have any of my other children so have no comparison..)?

TIA xxx

my daughter had an operation 18 months ago and both her femurs were broken, she had really hairy legs afterwards,it has gone back to what it was like before.

It will go back to normal soon. Hair falls out, new hair grows back as before. It is normal for this to happen. Don't worry.

Normally your hair is bleached by exposure to the sun and is rubbed off by friction against clothing etc. Being in plaster stops this for the duration, so she will be back to normal soon.

Thank you ladies! My DH saw a tube of Immac the other day and asked if I'd bought it for DD (can't say I wasn't tempted....).

Beep, whatever happened to your poor DD? Is she okay now?

I must admit I had never realised how awful it was before to have people stare at you or your child because you/they look a bit different..

dd broke her wrists at easter time and was in plaster for 7-8 weeks. both arms were like this when the plasters came off and the hairs have now gone blond again and are beginning to thin out too. but it has taken ages. luckily she hasn't ben bothered by it and she is 11

Yep, DS had a full length cast for 9 weeks and DD wanted me to wax his leg afterwards

It does rub off quite quickly, but takes a few weeks to loose the withered look!

DS broke his femur very badly when aged 2. I don't recall him growing any hair at all.

when it happened I was distraught I thought it was the only person whose baby had hurt herself!!! Now I now I wasn't alone

I've tried rubbing to see if any hairs will come off, but nothing has happened so far. Hopefully it's just a matter of time. Of course DD couldn't care less....
