You have to go to the Docs to get them. I have been on them for 3 months and they have helped. Bloods on Friday to see if they have raised my levels.

how long was it did u start to feel improved?

No - you can buy them over the counter. Ask for ferrous sulphate tablets. I buy them from Boots in packs of 200.

I take one a day now but originally (on doctors orders) was taking 3. I get very anaemic very quickly due to heavy periods and a 23 day cycle.

If you take 3 a day they will make you feel sick and constipated probably.

But do you know that you are anaemic?

NAB3 · 27/08/2007 17:34

It was quite quick really. Maybe the first month. Boots won't sell them to you.

NAB3 · 27/08/2007 17:34

Well, my local Boots won't.

Biglips · 27/08/2007 17:35

well i lost loads of blood when i had the emerg c-section and was given iron tabs from hosp. ive had it tested for aneamic a few weeks later after that (and also before i was pg) but is all ok.

MIne was within the okay levels but had dropped slightly so Doc put me on them.

Biglips · 27/08/2007 17:36

It says 200mg dried ferrous equiv to 65mg ferrous iron.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/08/2007 17:41

Got this pack maybe 8 weeks ago. It's one of those things they usually wave under the pharmacist's nose but they've never refused me.

Biglips · 27/08/2007 17:47

saggers - how long did yours start to work? Nabs - what mg was yours?

OP posts:
NAB3 · 27/08/2007 17:48

Mine is 200mg.

Mistymoo · 27/08/2007 17:50

I've heard that floridex is good for building up your iron levels. You can get it in health food shops.

saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/08/2007 17:50

When I'm really bad (which isn't often as I don't usually let it get that far), I feel better within a few days.

Biglips · 27/08/2007 20:38

does it cost much??

OP posts:
saggarmakersbottomknocker · 27/08/2007 21:16

Less than a blimmin prescription charge! About £2.50 I think.

Idreamofdaleks · 27/08/2007 21:30

Ferrograd C is the best brand IMO - no prescription required

Sustained release with Vit C for best absorption & least constipation!
