Accidentally taken pill too early

Hi, hoping someone can help!

I've accidentally taken my rigevidon pill too early, I'm due to take it at 7pm today but have just taken it at 10.30am by accident.

Do I just take another one at 7pm or do I count that one as taken today and just take the next one tomorrow at 7pm?

Thanks!

Just take another tomorrow at your usual time and you’ll be fine

BertieBotts · 31/12/2019 10:50

Is it one with a 24 hour window or a 12 hour window?

If it's a 24 hour window Breakfast's advice is fine. If it's a 12 hour window I'd stagger it a bit so tomorrow take it at around midday, then the next day mid afternoon, then the next day normal time.

Thanks for the replies!

@BertieBotts I've taken 2 15 hrs apart, and the next one will be about 33 hrs after that.

To be clear I took the pills at:

7pm last night
10.30am today

Next one would be 7pm tomorrow unless I take another at 7pm today (9 hrs ish after accidental one)

Thanks

Oh I do that all the time!
I don’t worry much unless I have a seven day break and then forget to take the first three of the next pack.

helpfulperson · 31/12/2019 11:17

If you are concerned phone 111 and ask for a call back from the pharmacist, or even pop into any local pharmacist. They will be able to advice.

BertieBotts · 31/12/2019 13:22

Yes. But if you have a pill that has a 24 hour window for missed pills, you can take them up to 48 hours apart without any problem.

BertieBotts · 31/12/2019 13:23

What's the advice in the leaflet for a missed pill, is what I'm talking about.

happycamper11 · 31/12/2019 13:25

Take another at 7 if you're worried, it won't do any harm.

ChipInTheSugar · 31/12/2019 13:25

Kind of a connected question, but how does your body know the difference between a missed pill and the 7 day break (when you don't use extra contraception)?

Queenoftheashes · 31/12/2019 13:28

It doesn’t... it you keep forgetting you get the bleed

eveshopper · 31/12/2019 13:41

It's a combined pill so doesn't need taken at exactly the same time of day in the way the mini pill does

If you are worried either use a condom or don't have sex.

Please don't use 111 for this as a PP suggested. You can look up the leaflet online if you have lost it.

eveshopper · 31/12/2019 13:43

Also is there any underlying reason that you would take your pill in the morning when you usually take it at night?

Confused? Mixed it up with something else? Stress?

happycamper11 · 31/12/2019 13:50

I didn't realise it was a combined pill, I assumed mini pill, one with the very short window- even my mini pill has a 12 hour safety window. It will be absolutely fine OP.

Breakfastat · 31/12/2019 14:16

If you read the leaflet it actually says that missing one pill is fine just take it when you remember and continue as normal

RaspberryB3r3t · 31/12/2019 23:09

Thank you so much everyone, much appreciated. I will just take the next one tomorrow. I took it early as I was going to pack it in an overnight bag and automatically took it as I picked it up, purely out of habit. Thank you all!

I looked up the leaflet online which was helpful (had no idea you could do this!) which helped a lot. Thanks again!
