Strongest OTC painkiller for bad toothache

Am in agony. Had a filling two weeks ago that has failed and can’t get to dentist until Friday. Ibuprofen and paracetamol are not touching the pain - what is the strongest thing I can get from a pharmacist to tide me over? Thank you!

Codeine

Cocodmol and nurofen together is normally the only thing that works for me. Or codeine if any friends/family have any.

Nurofen Plus has the highest amount of codeine you can get otc - 12% I think.

Co codamol,clove oil and a bottle of Listerine. Read the label to make sure its got alcohol in it and rinse your mouth with it as often as you can. The purple one is the best.

This might sound utterly ridiculous (I thought so too at the time) but chewing down on a slice of white bread and keeping it where the tooth is helps a lot. I promise it sounds nuts but it saved my sanity when I had awful tooth pain last year. Takes a few minutes but it soothes it and takes the edge off. Hope you feel better, toothache is the WORST

There’s a Nurofen product mdd as e especially for toothache. It’s codeine based, and the pharmacist has to tell you not to take it for more than 3 days, but it is OTC.

Fingers crossed yiu find some relief OP, I had 2 weeks of toothache recently and it’s grim, but at least it wasn’t Christmas. I also found that Corsodyl mouthwash provided some relief.

Paramol!

Rub some sensitine toothpaste on the gum line too. Also could try lidocaine (usually used for gynae problems. It’s anaesthetic. Plus Codine.

So - the orajel + co-codamol is starting to kick in. Will stagger with the nurofen. Some relief found - thanks to everyone!

Oh @thesunrising, toothache is the absolute worst. Set an alarm on your phone for when to take each dose of drugs as taking them all on time should give you the best chance of keeping the pain at bay. Sometimes a warm hot water bottle on the affected side can help too. Hope you get sorted on Friday.

Only thing that helped me was clove oil. Thought it was bollocks when my DH suggested it but it actually numbs the entire area. Painkillers didnt work
