Red and weeping eye

Hi,

Mu 6 month old DD woke up this morning and her eye is all red around the edges and weeping,it looks like someones punched her.

Has anybody got any advice/ideas what it could be?

is it just the one eye? Could there be something in her eye - does she seem upset?

or maybe an infection.

try washing her eye gently with cooled boiled water and cotton wool.

could be a blocked tear duct.

Get some cotton wool dunked in boiled (but cool) salted water and rub the eye towards the centre.

Do this a couple of times tonight, and again tomorrow and see how it is.

Dd2 had one of these and it went really quickly after we started on the salt water stuff.
