I am due to go to hospital for a laparoscopy for diagnosis/treatment of endometriosis, the General aneasthetic and procedure does not bother me, i have had numerous GA for other things, however what does worry me, which I know is silly and vain, is the scars I am going to have, has anyone had a laparoscopy, can you tell me what the scars are really like and how long the recovery is realistically. I know it sounds vain but i am fortunate enough to still be able too wear abikini in summer and am worried if the scars will stop me doing this after. How painful is it after and for how long and what are the things you find difficult to do, I have been told to take a week off work to recover.

A laparoscopy scar is about and inch just below your belly button, hardly noticable in most cases. It's not major surgery and you should be up and about in no time, the worst thing I remember is the wind pain it gets trapped in the shoulders, take some peppermint cordial for it.

I had a laparoscopy 12 years ago for the same reason as you and there are no visible scars as mumy2arron says its done right next to your belly button so you can only really see it if you know its there.
I remember feeling rough for a couple of days after, and also as mummy2arron says you can get trapped wind under your sholders which I found very uncomfortable but you should feel better after 2-3 days.
