Double dose of antibiotics

Dentist put me on amoxcillon today for root infection. He said to take three times a day and to Start with a double dose. Does this mean to take one dose of two today plus a single dose or to take 4 overall? Prescription is for 16 tablets which would imply 4 for first day and the 3 for next 4 days.

The first time you take the tablets, take 2. All other times you just take one. It's the first dose that's doubled, not the first day.

Thanks. Sorry for being dim but I took a double dose at 11.30, a single dose at about six, should I take another one later on or wait until tomorrow.? The prescription is 16 tablets which sounds like 4 today then 3 per day for next 4 days.

It's always a bit awkward when you start part way through the day rather than first thing in the morning.

3 a day is about one every 8 hours. If you are going to be awake at midnight I'd recommend taking one then and then trying to start spacing them evenly tomorrow. If you won't be awake then but you're in horrendous pain then you need to work out if it's worth having an interrupted night to potentially get better quickly.

Thanks. I took two at 11.30 another at about 6 so thí k I will take another at about ten then try to pace more evenly tomorrow.

Thanks for your replies. Was worried it might be dangerous to take a fourth one.
