Throbbing head pain - should I be worried?

Hi,

Before I start, just a note to say I have never had a migraine or anything like that!

Background: F, 22. No known health issues.

So this has been happening for the past few years (I say few, but I can remember first noticing this about 5-7 years ago).

Sometimes I get an extremely sharp pulsing/shooting pain in the lower back right side of my head. It is so bad that whatever I am doing, it makes me scream out loud and I have to tense my body and squint my eyes together until it’s over. It usually lasts 5 seconds or less but it is very intense.

I never thought too much of it before but now it is starting to worry me.

Is this normal or cause for concern? Should I get it checked out and at my GP or hospital (A&E)? How urgent is it?

Thank you in advance!

If it's been going on for a few years, I would make a non-urgent appointment with my GP. No one here can diagnose you over the Internet. Hope it turns out well.

It's been 7 years. Routine appt with the GP- it's not an emergency.
