What's the possibility of antibiotic not working for gonorrhea? I'm in such a state!

Hi, first of all, please don't judge me for this. I'm so, so ashamed of myself. And disgusted I'm in this mess.

I discovered 3 months ago that I had contracted gonorrhea from an unfaithful partner. I had the antibiotic injection and pill combination as soon as I found out. I felt better in the following months, but the past few days I've started to have pains again, but no discharge. I am due on my period too, but I haven't come on yet. Probably due to the stress!

I'm wondering what the likelihood is of the antibiotic not clearing it up and I've actually still had this horrible infection for a further 3 months?! Does anyone have any experience of this happening? I have done another self test kit which I sent off yesterday as I couldn't get an spot at a clinic until the new year.
I feel sick with worry and can't sleep. I'm so scared and angry with myself.

OP I don’t have any experience of this but please don’t be angry with yourself. You’ve done nothing wrong.

Chances are the antibiotics have cleared it all up, if you haven't had any symptoms for a while that's a really good sign... Sometimes a thought can get stuck in our head and we become paranoid and make ourselves believe we have something we don't! There's only a miniscule chance you would have still have it from last time after having the treatment, so try to relax until you find out for definite x

I really hope its worked, I'm so worried about it affecting my fertility. The doctor didn't seem to think I had developed pid as I didn't have any of the more severe symptoms such as a fever etc.
The waiting is killing me though.

Also, if it does come back positive, I'm not sure if I'm able to get treatment from my gp? I can't spend Christmas knowing I've got the infection and not being able to get into a gum clinic for treatment until January!

Why are you angry with yourself if it was an unfaithful partner? It isn't your fault OP.

I just had a quick read - I'm sure this is common knowledge but I actually had no idea that gonorrhoea can spread to the blood/ joints which can be fatal! If he actually knowingly passed this disease I think you can pursue charges against him.

I've had chlamydia before and I got treatment from the gp, I never went to a gum clinic. I'm pretty sure they would help you no problem. Some people get it more than once and are still fertile, and others have it for months without knowing and it dosent affect them so hopefully you will be fine X I wouldn't beat yourself up, it's your ex you should be having a go at not yourself 😉

Oh god, don't tell me that, I'll be panicking I've got that too.
I don't want anything to do with him. He's an abusive, horrible man. I doubt he had any idea he had it as he really wouldn't care enough to get himself checked.

I don't know how long I've had it for. Potentially up to 2 bloody years, depending on what went on. I just had a horrible feeling something had go on, along with symptoms which is what made me get checked.
This is bloody awful.
