Restless legs

Does anyone have any suggestions for strategies with coping with this? I believe there are a variety of possible causes, and given DH's chequered, medical past just about any could be possible, but how do you manage the situation?

Is this when he is in bed at night?

Oh I get this - it's horrible! I usually get it when stressed or overtired. Try Valerian to help him relax before bed, I also swear by Rescue Remedy when I wake up in the night. Iron is supposed to help, try Floradix. Reduce caffeine. Massage or a shower alternating hot and cold, maybe some gentle exercise before bed also help. If all else fails get up and do something - walk up and down the stairs, stretches, anything to tire the legs. Is he quite sedentary during the day? I think exercise helps. No known medical cause or cure I'm afraid - there is stuff on the internet if you Google it.

Thanks for the swift responses!
Yes it is at night, and often he goes straight to sleep and it sets in later on in the night - say after an hour or so.
His job is varied, some days more desk-bound than others, but he does admit that he neds more exercise. But this was still a problem when in his previous job he was playing badminton/using the gym at lunch 2-3 times a week.
I have suggested talking to the GP, but got the standard male grunt about no time/what do they know etc.
I guess I need coping strategies for this really as obviouslymy nights are disurbed by it too! (And by ds, dd, the dog, etc)

This is horrible I had it when I was pregnant which is of no help to DH. I had it in bed and when I was sitting on the bus for a long time. In bed I would elevate my feet on a pillow, on the bus I would rotate my ankles
