Stopped smoking, my throat feels HORRENDOUS

Is this normal?
I've given up smoking, been almost a week. (Really quite proud of myself) I have the worst sore throat I've ever had! Honestly, agony to swallow.
Has anyone else experienced this before? Or is it just a coincidence??

Coincidence - suspect you have been unlucky enough to pick up a bug.

Coughing is very normal post quitting to get all the muck out, but sore throat is not.

I've not really had a cough at all, and actually don't have any other cold like symptoms. Just the sore throat. Weird.
