my tongue is all white and furry looking (mmmmm!) with a big crack in the middle.

Now, I can't remember what Gillian McKeith said about that kind of thing!!! I eat reasonably healthily, bit of fruit, bit of veg (could be more, but really not too bad). I cook everything from scratch, no ready meals - no snacking constantly on terrible food, although I do like chocolate!! I'm healthy and keep fit about 3 times a week. What is it I'm lacking?? I'm sure there's something.....

I'm 38. Maybe it's youth!!! Lol!!!

zinc, iron?

DumbledoresGirl · 20/08/2007 20:34

Might this be the answer?

Desiderata · 20/08/2007 20:34

Lord, I don't know. Oral thrush?

Eat a large, unpalatable yoghurt?

Drink more water?

Scrape your tongue?

Get on your knees and pray?

fartmeistergeneral · 20/08/2007 20:39

Ooh, thank you!!! Oral thrush?? Ewwww!!! Wouldn't I have other symptoms?? Not sure I could go to the doctor just for that (feel a bit of a hypo) but next time I go I might mention it. It's been a long, long time since I've shown anyone my tongue!!!

In the meantime, I might feast on natural yoghurt and drink lots and lots of water.

Sounds like thrush!

BettySpaghetti · 20/08/2007 20:40

Interesting that you should start this thread as I noticed something similar at the weekend -mine isn't exactly white and furry (maybe a bit, towards the back?) but does have a big crack . It has also been a bit sore and red towrads the tip.

I'm hoping that someone will provide a link to a website that will help you identify the problem/cause from numerous pictures of dodgy tongues!

fartmeistergeneral · 20/08/2007 20:44

I did have thrush in my throat once but it was all red and really really sore, there's no pain here. But it does sound like it might be thrush, especially in DumbledoresGirl's link.

It was Gillian McKeith who made her victims stick out their tongues though, wasn't it? What was it she said about the crack? I'm sure that's some kind of vitamin deficiency.

I was wondering that about the crack too fartmeistergeneral (great name by the way )

fartmeistergeneral · 20/08/2007 20:48

Thanks!!! I haven't been on mumsnet for months and months, good to be back!!

Am going to google the 'crack'.

Back in a minute!!

hmmmm...that could bring up some interesting images

fartmeistergeneral · 20/08/2007 21:00

OK, we've either got heart problems or hot stomachs!!!!

Or, are depressed and eat too many sweet things.......

The joy of internet diagnoses!!!!!

BettySpaghetti · 20/08/2007 21:04

What, pray tell, is a hot stomach???

I do eat a lot of sweet things

fartmeistergeneral · 20/08/2007 21:06

Not sure what the hot stomach is, but it was mentioned a couple of times - something ying and yang-ish.

I do crave chocolate, did wonder if that might be part of the problem.

BettySpaghetti · 20/08/2007 21:08

you might be on to something there as its chocolate thats my downfall too.
