how long do you wind your newborn?

my LO is 4 weeks old and sometimes needs keeping upright for an hour?!!

is this normal

burps appear 40+ mins later

Maybe try LO over your shoulder.

If you don't hold your LO upright what happens?

over shoulder still feels scary as he has no neck control

if don't keep upright he cries and quirms and wriggles even more.....

my mum used to keep my dcs held upright on her knee, one hand on their back and the other under neck and chin with their noses in the air, like little mr snooty! it looked very strange but accompanied with very vigourous back rubbing, not patting, it brought up wind really well!

When my DD was younger (now 10wks) on a night feed I could spend 45mins trying to get wind up! and sometimes I would get nothing!

Thinks like Infacol and Denitox colic drops do help break the wind down. I asked my GP and was told that some feeds the bubba doesn't swallow air so not to stress about it! HTH

tried fliging over shoulder but i and baby hate it

I have never 'winded' either of mine. I find that the burps (if needed) come up of their own accord. But I'm probably a bad mum
