Bloating, back pain and poor circulation

Have been having symptoms now for around 6 or 7 weeks. Started with being extremely tired which I put down to the fact I’d had a cold/virus and busy life looking after toddler/work. Progressed to feeling like my legs are ‘heavy’ and tight and having a bloated abdomen and lower back pain.

Been to the GP a couple of times. They’ve been very dismissive and suggest it’s stress/anxiety. They ran bloods which they assured were comprehensive and came back normal and basically said they wouldn’t do anything else!

Symptoms progressively feeling worse - lightheaded and dizzy at times and I feel like circulation to my feet/lower legs is poor.

My periods have been heavier for around 6 months. This was dismissed by the GP. Latest period nearly a week late. Tested twice and not pregnant. Period eventually arrived and ironically not as heavy as it has been in recent months.

The back pain and bloating concern me. I’ve booked in for a private pelvic ultrasound to rule out anything gynae. The GP did say she’d tested my CA125(?) levels which are normal.

I’m worried about the symptoms which I know isn’t helping! Sorry for the essay! I just wondered if anyone has any experience of similar symptoms? My worry is something bad on the scan or nothing at all which means I’m back to square one and not sure the GP will take me seriously. Thank you if you’ve got this far Smile

Thanks BoomBoom. Do you know if symptoms of endo can be month long and not just around the time of your period?

You mentioned circulation and legs feeling tight- are your ankles/lower legs actually swollen? Do the top of socks leave a dent in your leg?

Bambini83 · 23/11/2019 13:27

Hi Fretful parent. I feel like they could be slightly sometimes. Yes I do have a dent in my legs from my socks x

Hmm was thyroid tested? Puffy ankles, tingling fingers, circulation, heavier periods, bloating, dizziness are all familiar.

I'd ask for a print out of all tests. Also, go back to the Gp and say fine, if all is well on those blood tests, what next? Symptoms are ongoing and you're not sure why / need some help.

Bambini83 · 23/11/2019 22:57

Hi NeurotrashWarrier I know thyroid was something she checked. I’m definitely going to ask for a full run down of blood results though. Last GP I saw basically said it was all stress/anxiety as I have a young child/working so pressures of a young family but I just can’t see it tbh. Will be heading back next week. Scan tomorrow so fingers crossed.

Pelicans ultrasound clear which is a relief but back to the drawing board! GP testing stool sample - not entirely clear why. Will ask for full blood results once those results are in.

Glad to hear the scan was clear but sorry to hear that means you are no closer to a diagnosis.

For endo it would be certain times of month for me eg ovulation and before period, however think it can be more severe for others

Milicentbystander72 · 26/11/2019 14:52

I've been having similar symptoms.

I've had gastro problems - gallstone pain and then eventually additionally diagnosed with a type of food poisoning that had taken hold in my bowel. AntiB's have no cleared that...

However I have much lower back pain and bloating. I'm 47 though and it's much much worse when my period is due. For me, it's definitely peri-menopause I think.

Bambini83 · 26/11/2019 17:11

Thank you everyone for your replies! Milicentbystander72 that’s interesting. I did have a virus/stomach bug mid Oct. I’m guessing that’s why they’re testing stool sample.

It’s hard as I think I’m starting to see everything as a symptom now. Going to see what results from sample are then request blood results and re-assess.

Still awaiting stool sample results...symptoms pretty much the same though my circulation seems to be improving. I’ve started a normal multivitamin and iron. Still bloated abdomen, lower back pain, pain in knees and sometimes dizzy. Don’t have all symptoms every day.

Finally have my blood results back. I don’t really know what I’m looking for. The main one that stands out on the lower of the ranges is lymphocyte count 1.7. Normal range shows 1.5-4.5. TSH levels are 0.72. Normal range 0.3-4.5. Ferritin level 36 (normal level 17-291).

I don’t suppose anyone knows anything about such things or anywhere I could post my results for advice?

Many thanks
