Not sure if I am being That Patient.
Fat, nearly Fifty, borderline BP, unfit, and TIRED.
History of PCOS, periods are packing up, family history of hypothyroid.
As well as the tiredness (nanna nap in the afternoon, which is unlike me) I am losing my hair, eyebrows and skin is really dry.
I've been trying really hard to lose weight and improve my activity levels. Have lost about a stone in a year - which seems painfully slow, and I am REALLY trying.
GP found I was vitamins D deficient, but, thyroid ok. Vit D supplements have helped my skin, but, nothing else.
I would like to know whether my untreated PCOS/possible menopause could be at the root of the debilitating tiredness. GP says "nothing can be done for PCOS" and that I am too young for HRT.
I don' think either of those statements are correct (I may have chatted with Dr Google, I know it's a bad idea), but, I really like my GP and I trust her. However,r it's not her that's struggling with exhaustion and missing out on life - and how am I supposed to keep increasing my exercise when I'm bloody knackered?
Is it unreasonable to request an endocrinologist review? My PCOS and HBP worry me - makes me a cardiac risk and might explain the vague symptoms.
I just feel like she's got me down as one of those spoiled middle class, middle aged women. Which is possibly fair, but, I could be that and still benefit from some management of my shitey hormones.
