Kidney infection not clearing after two courses of anti biotics

I've had a kidney infection for two weeks now. I was prescribed a 7 day course of Ciprofloxacin the a 7 day course of co amoxiclav and the kidney infection still has not cleared, although the pain has improved (but is still there). I've had a few urine tests - no bacteria in my urine but there is blood present. Obviously I'll be going back to my GP tomorrow but I'm getting fed up of feeling so unwell. I've never had a UTI before and I am very rarely unwell. Just wondering if anyone has experienced anything similar and what helped to clear it?

In your OP you use the words ‘kidney infection’ and ‘urinary tract infection’.

Which is it? Or do you definitely have both?

Because for a UTI, I would probably try another oral antibiotic, but for a kidney infection I would ask my GP to refer me to hospital for IV antibiotics.

If you have a confirmed kidney infection - not just a standard UTI - that isn’t responding to antibiotic treatment, then I would head straight to hospital for IV antibiotics.

It’s also possible, given that antibiotics aren’t working and you don’t have bacteria in your urine, that the blood and pain are symptoms of something other than an infection. A hospital is probably the best place to get that checked.
