Drinking lots of water

So as part of my need to get fit and get my ass in gear routine, I have for the last two days made sure that I have drank at least 1.5 litres of water (this is far more than I would normally drink!). Well only 2 days in and I have a massive headache 🤷‍♀️

Could this be too much water? Should I cut down or keep going 🤔

What else are you changing? I'd say not to stop drinking the water! The more the better! Keep it up x

Ebonyandivory2 · 05/11/2019 23:26

Oh my gosh I’ve had the same! I’ve been drinking 2.2 litres for the past couple of days and I’ve got an almighty headache. I’ve cut right back on sugar too so I assumed that was why

HappyHammy · 05/11/2019 23:28

You can drink too much water, it can be dangerous. What is the recommended amount including water you get from food, fruit etc.

Titsywoo · 05/11/2019 23:31

1.5 or 2 litres is nowhere near a dangerous amount!

HappyHammy · 05/11/2019 23:38

It could be if you also have hot drinks, milk, juices, food with high water contents, isn't it also about the sodium levels. Isn't the recomended fluid intake about 1.2l a day in total.

1.5 or 2 litres is nowhere near a dangerous amount!

It can be if you are stuck in traffic.

ConFusion... or in a liftGrin

Drinking more water is good but then you might need to ensure you're getting enough electrolytes I think...magnesium/potassium/salts etc. Bigger water intake dilutes them.

crazycatladi · 05/11/2019 23:54

I drink up to 4 litres a day minus multiple toilet trips it has no side effects at all!

vilamoura2003 · 06/11/2019 21:44

I will persevere and keep going - I have also cut down on the sugar so maybe it is that 🤔

So far my clean and healthy eating hasn't been successful, all the veg has upset my stomach and the water has given me a headache 🤣

Have you reduced your caffeine intake? I found when I reduced the amount of tea and coffee I drank and replaced it with water I had a bad headache for a few days.

Teachermaths · 06/11/2019 21:55

1.5 litres of water per day is not an extreme amount. I'd have a headache if I drank that little.

I drink 3 litres most days, some days even more.

Teachermaths · 06/11/2019 21:56

It will be the sugar not the water.

TheFlis12345 · 06/11/2019 22:08

Definitely sugar reduction causing the issue, not the water increase.

Elieza · 06/11/2019 22:10

Prob just too many changes at once! Don’t go crazy I’m the veg or you will run out of toilet roll! 1.5l of water is fine. Lots of protein. Fewer carbs. Worked for me.

Ilikesweetpeas · 07/11/2019 20:33

I think it will be the sugar reduction, that gave me a bad headache when I started. Once that wore off I felt much better though
