Ankle pain - anyone had anything similar?

I have had a sharp pain in the side of my ankle/foot for the last few weeks which seems to be getting worse rather than better. The pain is on the side of my ankle underneath and up the back side of the sticky out bone (technical term ) on the outside of my foot. The pain is a sharp stabbing tearing pain whenever I try to walk and it’s getting worse each day. Spoke to the GP who said couldn’t do anything other than advise to take pain relief and self refer to physio but I’m just worried as it’s getting worse. Anyone had anything similar?

I had similar and got diagnosed with peroneal tendinitis - have a Google and see if your symptoms fit.
Physio have said the main thing is rest and gentle stretching exercises.

Mine was caused by ill supporting shoes like flat ballet pumps and Flip-flops.

I have had a google and this definitely sounds as if it could be this. Did you struggle to walk on yours @TheGirlFromStoryville? And how long did it take for it to get better?
