2 week referral support

Hi everyone

So, I got a 2 week wait referral to a gastroenterologist today. I'm feeling a bit nervous and wondered if anyone else was in the same situation so we could support one another?

Yes I'm very relieved nothing sinister. I was spotting at the time of scan (and still am) but this was only evident to the radiographer because of the blood on the internal probe.

I just need to concentrate my efforts in getting thyroid under control, which isn't a straightforward as it appears, but in the scheme of things I can't complain.

It’s still really sore and very red and angry, I thought it would be easing by now. Not sure if it’s infected, added a photo. Not long now @ForeverBaffled just a couple of days. How’s everyone else doing?

Sorry you're still in pain. It does look sore, I'd get it checked over if you can.

At hospital with hubby now. All seems normal with kidneys. A couple of small cysts on his liver not no idea if this is serious or not. He might need a follow up or he might not.

Just waiting for cystoscopy now.

Hubby hates hospitals so it's all a bit stressful for him anyway.

Report
DobbinOnTheLA · 05/11/2019 10:36

I hope the cystoscopy goes ok DuckWillow. I hope the cysts on liver are nothing sinister, Will you need to wait for a follow up appointment to find out if more investigation needed? Good news on the kidneys.

I went to have my thyroid medication review. It's back in range which is good news, but it also means the gynaecologist's belief about Thyroid being the cause is unlikely. Just have to wait for the consultant appt but I'm expecting to just be discharged as there's nothing sinister going on.

DuckWillow · 05/11/2019 10:50

I've had a quick google and it seems cysts on the liver can be congenital and no problem. So that's a relief.

ForeverBaffled · 05/11/2019 21:08

@DuckWillow that is a relief! So pleased your DHs kidneys are okay. Will he need much follow up?

@DobbinOnTheLA It’s great your thyroid levels are where they need to be but puzzling given the gynaecologist’s thoughts. Being discharged sounds good but are you current symptoms manageable? You must be exhausted after all the appointments.

@Caelaj07 How is your wound today? Probably a bit late now but if it’s warm to touch, sore or throbbing it’s probably worth getting it checked out. Hope you’re okay.

Urgh I feel like I’ve lost the plot today. My anxiety has been dreadful and I had a little cry in the toilets at work. I know it’s irrational but I am convinced I have cervical cancer. I’m exhausted and Thursday morning cannot come soon enough. Only two more sleeps.

DuckWillow · 05/11/2019 21:37

Thank you, yes some blood tests are all they recommend now. I suspect he had a kidney stone which has now passed.

Everything appeared normal though so it’s a huge relief.

@ForeverBaffled I’m so sorry you’re feeling like this, just one more day to get through and you will have some answers, 💐
The nurse doesn’t think my stitches are infected just irritated from clothes rubbing, I’ve got some antibiotics for something else though and she said they will help if it is.

ForeverBaffled Flowers I think when referred under the 2 week pathway, it's impossible to block out thoughts about cancer. I hope tomorrow gives you some answers and a clearer idea of what's causing your symptoms.

anotherday4 hi, I hope you're feeling as ok as possible. It's hard to not worry, I hope the appointment comes round quickly.

DuckWillow that's good news, hope the blood test results are fine too

Caelaj07 I'm glad the nurse checked it over, it's a hard area to try and rest.

Thank you so much everyone for all the good wishes ❤️

I just got home (love a 9am appointment) and everything is okay. The consultant was lovely and said that all looks typical down there and was quite confused to why my GP referred me urgently. She also took the time to talk about some of my birth injuries (from when I had my son) which I appreciated. I’ve been discharged with no need for follow up. Two weeks of anxiety resolved in 20mins.

Thank you for all your support. I feel so embarrassed now for being all drama-llama about it. I know the worry is to be expected though.

@anotherday4 I hope you’re bearing up. Have you had your appointment through yet?

anotherday4 · 07/11/2019 10:47

@DobbinOnTheLA I’m feeling ok, I hate waiting for results though which can take a long time. My stitches are out and neck feels better even if it looks a mess. How are you?

@MyBeloved have you had your appointment for your endoscopy yet?

@anotherday4 how did you’re appointment go?

DobbinOnTheLA · 12/11/2019 15:15

Glad the stitches are out and neck feeling better. The waiting is really testing, I hope you hear back soon.

I'm fine, got my follow up appt in a couple of weeks. still spotting which is a bit frustrating but at least I know there's no sinister reason behind it.
