Breast clinic- shortage of radiographers

I am going to breast clinic at end of week to get checked out for a lump but they have said I will be checked out by a member of the clinical team first to see if I need a mammogram as they are short of radiographers.

Is that standard procedure?

I believe so. I was told I would see the consultant first and he will decide if I needed a mammogram and ultrasound. I had both afterwards, the mammogram right away but had to wait for a few more days for the ultrasound as it was after 5pm by then.

I think that’s what happened to me.
