Grade 2 knee ligament tear...still keeping me awake at night after 9 weeks

I know, its not a wildly exciting thread...just hoping a physio or similar may be passing and happy to comment! I tore a ligament at the side of my knee back in August. I can walk ok albeit need to be a bit careful, but sleeping is a pain, literally. It still wakes me up twingeing in the night. I also cant crouch and kneeling is difficult. I work with small children so this is making life tricky. Does this sound ok for 9 weeks in? Or should I go back to my physio?

Are you sure it's a torn ligament? It sounds very similar to what I experience, pain waking me up, cant fully bend or straighten my knee and really hurts when I twist it in a certain direction. I have a torn medial meniscus (torn cartilage in my knee). It can take months to heal due to poor blood supply in that area.

Have you seen your gp? If not, might be worth getting it checked just incase. They diagnosed mine quite easily and referred me to physio.

Thanks for the reply. Its possible I tore the meniscus but definitely tore the ligament - I had an ultrasound which identified the latter but cant help with the meniscus. How long ago did you hurt yours?

Ah, I see. Sorry I just re-read that you already had physio. I tore my meniscus in January. By the time I had my 1st physio appointment I was heavily pregnant, then had a bad recovery from an emergency c-section so I've still not actually had physio yet.
My DB has tore his meniscus a couple times, 1st time he had surgery after it wouldn't heal, he's now 8 months into physio with his 2nd and anticipates surgery again.
I dont really have any experience of damaged ligaments but no harm in contacting physio and asking about it, especially with it still sounding so painful.

Op - this is exactly what I did two years ago. I can still remember the pain vividly. I couldn’t lie on my side in bed because the pain was so intense. Again, bending or crouching was impossible. I remember crying due to the pain.
Unfortunately it did last weeks. In fact it was at 8 weeks that I went to the gp again and got an mri to confirm diagnosis.
It did heel eventually but was definately a slow process.
So sorry I can’t give you any advice but just wanted you to know.
Take care and rest up
