Help with ear drops please

My DS has an infection of the outer ear and we have some drops. Instructions say they mustn't be used in the middle ear so does this mean we don't squeeze them right into the ear?

The label from the pharmacy doesn't give any indication of how to use.

The middle ear is the bit on the otherside of the eardrum, when you put the drops in you're putting them into the er canal, not the middle ear.

Well I thought that, but reading the information leaflet made me wonder - must be cos it's late! Thanks for your reply.
