Egg allergy and the Flu nasal spray

DD is allergic to egg, probably not severely. The accidental exposures that have caused a reaction were in a very thin batter on sweet potato fries and in a sponge pudding that was quite eggy and not well baked. The reaction is vomiting rather than any compromise of airway. She can tolerate well baked egg in muffins (we're doing the egg ladder).

Having read around I'm feeling unsure about whether she should have the flu nasal spray. This year's advice says that egg allergic children can have it as long as they have never had a full blown anaphylactic reaction, but this seems a relaxation of previous years' advice.

Has anyone here had the nasal spray for their egg-allergic DC?

Our DD has a raw egg allergy and she had her first flu nasal spray at the doctor’s surgery to be on the safe side. We hung around for 15-30 minutes to make sure there was no reaction which there wasn’t. She has had subsequent flu sprays at school with no problems.

DS has had the nasal spray 5 times now and has a moderate egg allergy to unbaked egg (it has to be bound with a starch which changes the protein structure to be safe). No side effects at all.
He's highly asthmatic so a bout of flu would be very serious and I took the line that any mild/moderate reaction to the spray would be preferable to any risk posed by the onset of flu

Ah this is reassuring thank you.

Just out of interest, does that mean your DD can eat an omelette but can't tolerate raw egg? Did you do the egg ladder to get to this point?

Oops cross post.

Thanks Puffty - I feel more confident about DD having the jab now. We actually had flu last Christmas and obviously it was hideous so I'm very keen to get us both vaccinated.
