Aloe Vera or peppermint oil capsules - to aid digestion? - IBS

I suffer IBS and have been using Aloe vera juice which does help a bit however i feel i need something more. A friend recommended Peppermint oil capsules.

Has anyone taken these before? And would it be ok to take the two together.

I am trying out different methods to combat my IBS at the moment. I have switched from cows milk to goats milk as I have a dairy and wheat sensitiviy but goats milk is fine apparantley. Trying my hardest to limit my bread intake (brown bread makes by ibs worse).

Don't know if they can be taken together.

My dh has a IBD and he has recently got a book which lists foods that harm and foods that heal, it has been a godsend to him.

he too can not have brown bread, as it makes his condition worse (art of it has the same side effects as IBS)

He used to get really ill after he had fruit, so gave it a miss, but has now found out that if he peels the skin off an apple/pear etc etc he can eat it.

Also had to switch to soya milk as cows milk made him worse, its trial and error and must be extrememly annoying for you.

Hi - personally I take a mixture of tablets (and control rest by diet) just hope I dont rattle too much! Its buscopan for pain, domperidone for sickness and colpermin (peppermint) for digestion, constipation and everything else. Have tried aloe vera but prefer peppermint. All the above are available on prescription but actually are cheaper to buy over the counter at somewhere like Boots - hth - horses x

Have you tried fennel tea? Tastes OK as long as you like aniseed and I am now a convert

second vote for colpermin.

Found the best treatment is the 15 day bifidus challenge as advertised by danone (remember those ads?)

Eat one yogurt with added bioculture every orning for bbreakfast and avoid wheat/gluten rich products for a llittle while.
Never start the day with orange or other acidic juices.
Best morning meal is banana or rice and yogurt. It lines and soothes the bowel.
