Hi there
I don't post much normally, but wanted to say I'm so sorry to hear your news. I have worked quite a bit with people with brain tumours and it is a truly terrible thing to go through.
Have you heard of Ivan Noble? He was a BBC journalist who had an aggressive brain tumour, and fought a very brave battle, writing about his illness on the bbc website. He wrote a book called a hole in the head His writing was always inspirational.
Sending you support, and please ignore this if you think it won't help.

onlyjoking9329 · 12/08/2007 20:28

thankyou have had a look at the book and will make a note of it,Steve wouldn't read it but i would. he is very up and down in mood at the moment, he has been talking funerals today

OP posts:
fibernie · 12/08/2007 20:35

So sorry to hear that and glad you're not offended at my suggestion of the book - I know people have very different ways of dealing with things.
Do you know where in his brain the tumour is? If it is near the front then mood swings might be a symptom of the disease. Sometimes people I've worked with can swing from one mood to another really quickly. Having looked back at the thread the suggestions of cancerbacup are really good ones. My mum had breast cancer (now 5 years clear) and she found that really useful. She preferred not to have too much information, but I think her phone calls to them were really helpful to her.
Wishing you strength.

onlyjoking9329 · 12/08/2007 21:06

Steves tumour is right temperal lobe.
he is on steriods which can affect mood, he also has MS, he has a lot to deal with and he has never been one for reading about stuff and he finds it hard to talk about stuff too

TotalChaos · 12/08/2007 22:13

You/DH might like to read "It's not about the bike by Lance Armstrong" - it's autobiographical, he made a very good recovery from testicular cancer (IIRC he did have a brain tumour removed as well) after having an initial poor prognosis.

onlyjoking9329 · 12/08/2007 22:22
